WHO ARE WE?
WHO ARE WE?
perFORM was inspired by those passionate about showing up authentically in the fitness space and designed to fill a gap in the activewear market, creating pieces that have both strong form and function.
perFORM was designed to push you outside of your comfort zone, without holding you back. These pieces are intentionally designed with support in mind to help you train and unleash your full potential.
perFORM is an activewear collection that questions norms and set out to answer:
Can activewear have both form and function?

Who shows up day in and day out, regardless of circumstance
The gym is her safe space
She is a badass, blazing her own trail
She deserves clothes as cool + durable as herself
FORM
Creating unique pieces, with aesthetics in mind to allow for newness and personal expression
FUNCTION
Focusing on the technical aspects, in how and where these designs support you as you sweat on

Each bra utilizes a multilayered system to increase support and structure, ensuring you are held in, in all the right places. With a fresh take on the high-support bra, you are still left with great coverage through a high neckline and compressive fabric.
-
Back straps are intentionally placed to support your spine, and dynamic pieces are used to encourage proper posture. PRs are the only thing that should be breaking here!
-
With a minimal seam structure, there is no seam at the top of shoulder, reducing the pain many experience while wearing sports bras. Each bra is lined with a Tencel blend fabric for a soft handfeel against the body to increase comfort while you push your limits.
Sports Bra Prototypes
The final product for this collection is 3 sports bras ranging from light to high support, with exploration in fabrication and creating supportive garments through strategic construction.
The current activewear market is oversaturated with products that mimic performance wear, without being able to perform.
Activewear has lacked innovation over the past decade and is full of “copy and paste” designs with prints and colors changing to create something new. When the silhouettes do change, they often don’t hold up for workouts.

COLOR THEORY
Passionate about fitness, I found myself wondering why we wear garments that don’t last while pushing ourselves to break boundaries in the gym. The aspect of durability and perseverance that we strive for in the gym, is not replicated in our garments, instead, they often are “copy and paste” designs that don’t hold up. I found myself asking, why can’t our clothing be more of an inspiration to us while in the gym. It felt like an oxymoron to wear garments that mimic performance wear without the ability to perform, while you strive to be and do better, authentically, in the gym.
I wanted to challenge myself, and focus on bra construction for this project as it was an area I hadn’t tackled before. I deconstructed multiple sports bras to understand the structure used inside the garment to help support the user while working out. I also did a deep dive on the various areas of a woman's body that need that extra support, or are more prone to injury during workouts to design with support in mind.
When enduring physical stressors, the color blue allows the brain to focus on the present moment due to it’s calming effects on the brain, letting the consumer show up and leave their outside cares where they belong: outside of the gym.

This caused me to do a deep dive on the ever-growing industry of athleisure and come to the belief that athleisure is overpowering true activewear. But who says athletes can’t have fun, unique designs too? I looked to inspirations like Serena Williams, who have perfectly merged form and function in the past, leading me to question why isn’t this more popular. Better yet, why can’t I do this myself?
Chest and Back support were the two big areas I decided to hone in on. Chest support is necessary for women to be distraction-free while working out, while back support helps with overall form, reducing risk of injury and encouraging good posture. I also focused on comfort within the sports bras, as many women complain about the digging sensation that happens at the top of their shoulders. To mitigate this, my bras are designed with a seamless shoulder construction.
Green is an overall mood booster. Not only does this color make the consumer feel less tired during their workout, it also provides healing effects as it relaxes the body and contributes to feelings of satisfaction in their physical activities. The recovery and positive emotions that are sparked with this color, encourage the consumer to show up and perFORM.
